Pricing

Digital Reef is built on a cross-subsidy model. Individuals and grassroots groups get near-cost access. Public purpose and commercial users pay more, enabling that affordability. All tiers access the same underlying data and full capability - the difference is price and support level, not features.

How pricing works

Digital Reef is a charitable trust, not a SaaS company. Our pricing is designed around a simple principle: commercial organisations pay market rates so that community groups can access the same tools at near-cost.

An engineering consultancy tracking fast-track consents and a volunteer-run tramping club monitoring DOC land decisions both need the same information. The consultancy can absorb a commercial rate. The tramping club cannot. Our tiered model means both get what they need.

This is not a discount programme - it is the core economic design of the Trust, embedded in our Trust Deed (Clause 4). Revenue from higher-tier members directly funds the infrastructure that serves everyone.

Federation Bundles

Many sectors in Aotearoa operate as federations - a national body with dozens of regional clubs or branches. Whitewater NZ and its affiliated kayaking clubs. Federated Mountain Clubs and its member tramping organisations. Fish and Game regions.

If your organisation sits at the centre of a network like this, we can work with you on tailored arrangements that give your regional affiliates access through a single coordinated membership.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change tier later?+
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. Contact us to discuss changes to your membership.
Is there a free option?+
The Free tier gives you unlimited access to emergency alerts and recreation events at no cost. This is a permanent tier, not a trial - upgrade to Plus or Pro whenever you're ready.
What does seat-based pricing mean for organisations?+
A seat is one person with login access to your organisation's account. All organisation tiers include flexible seat-based pricing - contact us to discuss the right arrangement for your team.
What payment methods do you accept?+
We accept credit card (Visa, Mastercard) and direct bank transfer. Contact us if you have specific requirements.
How does the cross-subsidy model work?+
Digital Reef is a charitable trust. We price tiers so that grassroots groups and community organisations get near-cost access. Public purpose and commercial users pay more, which funds affordability for the sector. This is the core economic design of the Trust, embedded in our Trust Deed.
What if my organisation doesn't fit neatly into a tier?+
Contact us. We work with organisations of all sizes and structures, including federated models where a national body coordinates access for regional affiliates.
