What beta means

Digital Reef is moving from a private alpha to an open beta. This page explains what that means for you: what is ready to rely on, how your account works, and what we promise while we finish the rest.

Ready to rely on

These parts of Digital Reef are stable. They are covered by the beta.

Habitat

Your home page: alerts, headlines and the River of News for the places you care about.

Lens: your places and alerts

Add your places and activate alerts, and get an email digest when something new matches them.

Aronnax

Participatory mapping for community groups: collect and share observations on one map.

Reef GIS

Our maps, including the public-purpose and wellbeing-group maps and the layers beyond them.

Council meeting dates

Meeting dates picked out of council documents, starting with Auckland, and we are adding more councils all the time.

Every feature in our individual plans, up to and including Pro, is part of the beta.

Your account in beta

  • Everyone sees the plan they are actually on. The Free plan stays free.
  • Paid plans are charged from the day beta opens. Organisations can also arrange this with us directly.
  • If you took part in the alpha, you can choose to join as a beta tester, move to the Free plan after a 7-day grace period, or subscribe.
  • Beta testers start on Plus at no charge. Testers who stay active and send us feedback can move up to Pro.

Organisations

We are finalising what beta includes for organisations. If your organisation would like to join the beta, contact us.

What we promise during beta

  • Your data stays with you in beta, and it will move with you when Digital Reef goes from beta to full production.
  • You can always see whether our services are running on the Quality page.
  • Billing, cancellations and refunds are set out in our Terms of Use.
