Become a founding member of Digital Reef
Founding membership is not early access. It is a governance relationship. As a founding member, you help shape the tools, policies, and priorities of a charitable trust built to serve communities across Aotearoa New Zealand - and you hold us accountable to that mission.
Digital Reef exists to close the gap between the information governments publish and the communities those decisions affect. Founding members are the people and organisations who believe that gap matters enough to help close it.

The challenge we are here to solve
Every week, New Zealand central and local government agencies publish resource consents, plan changes, gazette notices, and environmental decisions that directly affect community groups, recreational users, and conservation organisations. Most of those groups never see them.
Consultation windows open and close. Fast-track applications progress. Legislation changes. The information is technically public, but it is scattered across dozens of websites, buried in PDFs, and published in formats that assume you already know where to look.
The result is civic information asymmetry - well-resourced organisations can track what matters to them, but community groups, volunteer-run clubs, and small non-profits cannot. By the time they find out, the window to participate has often closed.
Digital Reef is building the infrastructure to fix that. Automated monitoring, structured alerts, shared spatial data, and participatory mapping tools - all designed so that the groups who care most about a place have the information they need to act.
Why become a founding member?
A governance voice
Founding members have a direct line to the Trust Board. Your input will help shape product priorities, feature design, and the policies that govern how Digital Reef operates - not as a user giving feedback, but as a stakeholder with standing.
Early access to every tool
Be first to use Nemo, Aronnax, and our shared GIS infrastructure as they launch. Your experience in those early weeks directly shapes what the platform becomes.
Priority support
Founding members receive priority onboarding, dedicated support channels, and faster response times during the build-out period and beyond.
Input into the roadmap
Tell us what matters. Founding members participate in roadmap reviews and feature prioritisation - your needs set the direction.
Trustee succession representation
As the Trust matures, founding members will have a role in trustee succession. The people who built this from the ground up should have a say in who leads it forward.
The six guilds
Digital Reef organises its work around six thematic guilds - Waterspace, Landspace, Airspace, Accessibility, Conservation, and Emergency Response. Each guild maintains curated spatial layers, monitoring rules, and community networks relevant to its domain.
When you join, you choose the guild (or guilds) that match your work. Your membership supports that guild directly, and your voice shapes its priorities.
